BASICS: What are your names and any nicknames?

Alaina & Jake Kaganovich

YOU: Tell us about you and your family.
We met in 2021, married in St. Paul in September 2023, and bought a Plymouth home in 2024. We have a dog named Phoebe and recently welcomed baby Sloane into the world on 4/13/25. For work, Alaina is a Speech and Language Pathologist at St. David’s Center. Jake is a Mechanical Engineer at Boston Scientific.

Alaina’s parents, Tamara and Rick Phillips, were previous members of Bet Shalom when Alaina and her sister, Ari, were children. Jake’s parents, Nadia and David Kaganovich, made Aliyah in 2021, currently living in Ma’ale Adumim. He has two older brothers, Boris and Eliyahu. Boris, his wife Melissa, and their son Moris live in Montreal Canada. Eliyahu lives in Israel. 

BELONG: What does belonging to a synagogue mean to you?

To us, a synagogue is a place to connect with a community that has shared values. 

HERE: Why did you choose Bet Shalom?

We are excited to have Sloane attend preschool at BSY this fall. Alaina attended Bet Shalom for religious school as a child.
