Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

General Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedure

The main entrance (by the fountain) will be the only location used for drop-off and will be the only point of entry during our sessions.

Both the main entrance and the religious school entrance will be used for pick-up to ease traffic flow.

When dropping off and picking up, please do not leave your car unattended in front of the door. If you need to park, please do so in a designated space in the parking lot.

All drivers must adhere to all signs, cones, and personnel directing traffic.

If a parent is late for pick-up, students will be waiting in the main entrance lobby.

Preschool-2nd Grade

Drop-Off:

  • Students in preschool-2nd grade MUST be walked into the building and brought to their classroom by a responsible adult. They are not allowed to be dropped off at the entrance.

Pick-Up:

  • All preschool-2nd grade students MUST BE PICKED UP IN THE SANCTUARY BY AN ADULT (Students will be waiting with their class and teacher in the same assigned location each week).

3rd-12th Grade

Drop-Off:

  • Students may be dropped off at the main entrance (or walked into the building) and are expected to go to their classroom. If students arrive earlier than 15 minutes prior to class, they are to wait in the lobby until they are dismissed to class.
  • If you are dropping your child off at the main entrance, please stay in a single-file line. This is to ensure that every child is dropped off at the curb and not forced to cross in front of other cars. Also, PASSING CARS ON THE LEFT IN THE CARPOOL LANE IS PROHIBITED. This is to ensure student safety and prevent accidents.

Pick-Up:

  • You have the option to pull up to either the main entrance or religious school door and have a parking attendant page your child(ren) to come outside. To ensure the safety of all students, PLEASE DO NOT TEXT STUDENTS TO COME OUT TO YOU OR INSTRUCT AN OLDER SIBLING TO PICK UP A CHILD FROM THEIR CLASS. Teachers are instructed that no student be dismissed unless picked up (or paged) by an adult.
  • If you are parking and coming in to pick up your child(ren), all students will be picked up in the social hall/sanctuary where they will be waiting by class.

School Closure Procedures

Inclement Weather Procedures

In the event that a religious school in-person session needs to be cancelled, all programming will move to virtual classes with its normal start time. We intend to inform families of this change by 7:15 am on Sundays and 1:30 pm on Wednesdays in the following ways:

  • An all-school email will be sent informing families of the closure
  • A statement will be posted on Facebook

If we are moving to virtual classes the class links will be included in our communication.

If you should have questions regarding possible in-person cancellations, please email Ali King at ali.king@betshalom.org or schoolsupport@betshalom.org.

Sha’arim: Servicing Students With Special Needs

We want all students at Bet Shalom to be able to be a part of the community and grow from the curriculum to the best of their abilities. We will continue to offer services from Sha’arim, the special needs support program. Therefore, if your child has any special needs, please provide us with as much information as possible, and feel free to meet with Ali King to discuss this further. The more we share and work together, the better we are able to meet your child’s needs while they are here at Bet Shalom. Ali can be reached at ali.king@betshalom.org or 952-426-6649.
