Who We Are

Bet Shalom is a Reform Synagogue affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ). Our Synagogue is a sacred community - a kehilah kedosha. Like the Israelites in our Torah, and the ger b’toshav - those that joined them along the way, we bring our individual uniqueness and diversity to enhance the whole. We are united through Bet Shalom in creating and sustaining a vibrant and caring Jewish community that supports living Jewish values, ritual, education, and opportunities for tikkun olam - repairing our world.

Mission

We are a warm and welcoming Reform synagogue, founded in 1981, by a small family of friends. Our mission is to provide a sacred community for applying study to our lives, enriching our souls, and repairing the world around us.

We achieve our mission by offering educational programs for children, youth, and adults, Shabbat and Holiday services, and many engagement activities, such as social action events, landscaping, and supporting our members during times of need.

Vision

It is our vision that people of Bet Shalom are empowered by Jewish values, motivated to lead active Jewish lives, and are enabled to contribute to a better world. Every congregant has access to the benefits of what Bet Shalom has to offer and, as a result, will thrive as a member of our community.

Strategic Themes

In October 2018, the Bet Shalom Board of Trustees approved a strategic plan for the future of the congregation. This plan centers around four key themes that actually make up our mission statement.

Kehilah Kedosha: Building Sacred Community

Create deep relationships by connecting people wherever they gather.

Talmud Torah: Applying Study to Our Lives

Support our members’ lifelong Jewish learning.

Tikkun HaNefesh: Enriching Our Souls

Deepen members’ connection to Judaism and how it informs and enriches their lives.

Tikkun Olam: Repairing The World

Serve as model members of society, locally and globally.
