Our next scheduled birding social will be a walk in the Lake #2 area at Carver Park on Tuesday June 6, 2023, 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. (In case of inclement weather, the alternative date will be Tuesday June 13, 2023, 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.) Please see the attached Carver Park map. Take the Grimm Rd Recreation Entrance off Carver County 11 and park at the first parking lot on the right. The parking lot is U-shaped, has a restroom without running water, and is designated with a P and a Horse symbol on the map. 

We'll walk the trail near the eastern shore of Lake #2 and will cover approximately 2 miles round trip. The trail's paved and unpaved portions are mostly flat and will pass through prairie and some short woodland stretches. I recommend that you bring water, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Based on our visit to this lovely area in July 2022, we might see Orchard Orioles, Indigo Buntings, Cedar Waxwings, Dickcissels, Trumpeter Swans, Ospreys, Clay Sparrows, Vesper Sparrows, and Marsh Wrens, in addition to other species. Afterward, you are welcome to meet at 11:00 a.m. to join Russ and me for more socializing over food and beverages at People’s Organic at 12934 Minnetonka Blvd.
