Youth Groups

Our youth group is about building relationships and making connections through social programming and leadership opportunities. Kids/Teens build lasting friendships, meaningful memories and lifetime connections to Tikkun Olam, community and Judaism.

Our high school students are members of BeSTY (Bet Shalom Temple Youth), which is affiliated with our international Reform Youth Movement called North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY). NFTY hosts quarterly retreats called kallot and many of our students are encouraged to attend the Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute Camp (OSRUI), our movement’s summer camp in Oconomowoc, WI where Rabbis Locketz and Crimmings serve as faculty members during the summer.

Meet Jake Levine!

Jake hails from Ann Arbor, MI and is a proud product of the Reform Movement, NFTY, and the URJ’s Kutz Camp. After graduating from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in International Studies, he made Aliyah to Israel to work for the World Union for Progressive Judaism and later Young Judaea, a Zionist youth movement and provider of Israel experiences.

This summer he’ll serve as the Kutz Camp’s Program Director, after which he is excited to join the Bet Shalom community as the Youth Advisor while pursuing his M.Ed. in Youth Development & Leadership at the U! His cat, Jabo, is looking forward to the move as well.
