Richard J. Schwartz - Cantor

Bio

Cantor Richard Schwartz has served the needs of communities and individuals for over 25 years as a cantor, spiritual leader, B’nai Mitzvah program director, Jewish music and liturgy consultant, choral conductor, song leader, composer, arranger, and concert performer and producer.

Born and raised in Far Rockaway, NY, Cantor Schwartz received his Bachelor of Arts in vocal performance from the University of Massachusetts and trained for the cantorate in Los Angeles with cantors Samuel Kelemer, William Sharlin and Nathan Lam. He has active fellow of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality having completed their Cantorial Leadership program in 2005.

In 2011 Cantor Schwartz graduated from American Jewish University in Los Angeles with a Masters of Arts in Education and Bachelor of Hebrew Letters. Prior to joining us at Bet Shalom, he served as the cantor of Temple Beth David of the San Gabriel Valley.
