Conversations About Race and Racial Justice

Our Youth Engagement Intern, Greta Cutts, will be organizing events for our youth this summer. The first event is Conversations about Race and Racial Justice. This will be a discussion-based event that touches on the death of George Floyd and the race and racial justice concepts that go hand-in-hand with all that’s happened since. In addition to time for discussion, learning, and reflection, we’ll also take action by making cards or writing letters and we’ll learn new social justice songs. We know that talking about race and racism with your children can be difficult, and we are aiming to support your efforts and explore these issues in a safe space within our community and through a Jewish lens.
Please Note: The discussion for third through fifth graders will begin at 2:00 PM, and sixth through eighth graders will begin at 4:00 PM. These guidelines are for whichever grade your child is going into in the fall, e.g. if your child has just completed fifth grade and they will be entering sixth grade in September, they would join the activities for the middle group.
