Hello Pre-K Parents,
This week in room 104 we were learning about fall leaves! Our grounds at Bet Shalom are looking beautiful, and we have been immersing ourselves in it’s beauty all week. We have gone on several nature walks to collect leaves, gone hunting for different kinds of leaves, and explored the nature around us! We investigated leaves using magnifying glasses, and talked about how leaf shapes, colors, and textures can be different. We went on a scavenger hunt to see how many different types of leaves we could find. We made leaf rubbings of our favorite leaves collected on our walks together, and decorated our classroom with a leaf garland. The kids loved reading the book Leaf Man by Lois Elhert, and we made our own images of animals and people entirely made out of leaves.
We are continuing Hebrew lessons with Rabbi Crimmings once a week. We are learning the names of our body parts with help from the song “head shoulders knees and toes” as well as learning words for movements we can make with our body including walking, running, twirling and jumping. The kids are having so much fun with this immersive vocabulary!
Next week is Pajama Day on October 19th. Remember to have your child wear their cosiest pajamas for this day together! As the weather is getting colder, please make sure to send your child with a jacket every day. We also request that you send an extra hat and pair of gloves to school in preparation for the colder days ahead. These can be placed in their spare clothing boxes for times where they are needed.
