We had a great week in our classroom. We talked about Chanukah and how we celebrate with different traditions. Also we welcomed two new friends to our class, Mia and Adam. Mia and Adam are twins who recently moved to Minneapolis from Israel.
We made Jewish Stars out of craft sticks, then painted them blue. Also the kids added glitter for a little sparkle. We played the dreidel game. The kids had fun spinning different size dreidels. We talked about how many candles are on the menorah. How we light one candle for each night. Evie made a cute song for lighting candles. We sang Chanukah songs with the Cantor.
The kids are really enjoying making their own books. They have amazing imagination. We had books about Harry Potter, princesses and cars.
Rowan and Andrew played this week with jungle animals. They built cages and ramps for the animals. Then they added cars to their menagerie. Brooklynn and Lucy had fun playing with the doll house. They pretended to have a Hanukkah party with mom, dad, grandparents and babies.
The letter of the week was Kk. We made k books, and came up with lots of k words. Next week we’ll work on the letter Ee.
It was such great weather this week. We got to play outside without snow pants and boots. Sometimes twice in one day. Evie and Brooklynn made a giant hopscotch. All the kids had fun jumping on the hopscotch game.
A peek at next week: We will continue celebrating Hanukkah with more stories and activities. Towards the end of the week, we will begin exploring the story of The Three Bears that will continue through December 23rd.
Chag Sameach! Have a peaceful weekend, Randi and Amanda
