Tzahov Room צהוב & Katom Room כתום (Infants)

Happy New Year Tzahov and Katom families, welcome back. We hope you all enjoyed the new year and the joy it brings. We are excited to be back together.

On Monday, we introduced our new theme of Shapes All Around Us. The babes looked at new shape books and we sang a new shape song. Look in the photos for the lyrics so you can sing at home. We also read some favorite books like Will You Wear a Blue Hat? and Going on a Leaf Hunt.

Other toys we enjoyed playing with were jars and lids, play food, utensils, and soft pom pom balls, pretending to make soup and cookies.

On Tuesday, the Velcro board was recreated with shapes and pictures of the babies. The mobile babies notice the changes in the room so quickly and have truly loved seeing the faces of themselves and their friends.

Tuesday was also an unofficial teacher spirit day where we all wore our “early childhood squad” tshirts. Thank you, Amber, for the awesome tshirts.

On Wednesday, the babes enjoyed climbing on the foam stairs, block, and wedge. This large muscle activity is a favorite of theirs!! Miss Shana, our new music teacher, made her debut on Wednesday. The children were all engaged and loved learning a new color song while also singing a few favorites. Miss Shana brought picture props to accompany the music which brought even more excitement to the songs.

On Thursday, some of the older babes made pictures using dot dot markers and all the babies enjoyed singing and mat time, exploring the toys.

On Friday, we will celebrate Shabbat as a whole school and we’ll go on an indoor stroll/scavenger hunt, looking for shapes in the building. All month, while we play, we will be emphasizing the shapes around the room, in the big room, and all through the building, expanding the babes vocabulary. In addition, the teachers have brought in a variety of boxes and containers to use as large building blocks, naming the shapes as we build towers. Oh, what fun we have!!

We hope you have a wonderful and healthy weekend.

Warmly,Miss Heidi, Miss Sarah, Miss Rosie, and Miss Hannah
