Happy Friday Tzahov Families!
It was five senses week in Tzahov. The babies seemed to love the new sensory toys and activities set out and planned for the week. A variety of textured fabrics and materials for the babies to explore were out all week. Blue bubble wrap, a shiny pink bubble wrap envelope, sparkly red foam, and sticky contact paper was taped to the wall for the kiddos to feel. A basket full of different textured fabrics was ready to be ruffled through, emptied and filled many times throughout the day. The kids and teachers used the fabrics in a variety of ways like hiding an object underneath for the babes to find and playing peek a boo. Some babes enjoyed a certain piece of fabric and would find that one each day.
Since it’s getting dark earlier another entertaining activity the babes got a thrill out of was a set of multicolored lights. The lights have different settings. Our favorite was the morph setting. The kids stared in awe as the lights shifted in color.
Recycled bottles were filled with different items to create visual and auditory stimulation. Scented bottles were also a hit with a sweet smell of orange, a bold peppermint smell, and a calming licorice scent. Lastly, oil and glitter bottles were sought after and admired all week.
Scratch and sniff stickers were added to the mirror to pique the babies interest. The teachers spent time near the stickers drawing kids in to teach how to use their nose to smell the different scents.
For art, the babies rolled marbles around in a plastic bag with paint. It was a clean project that sparked a lot of interest. Their finished pieces are up on the wall outside our classroom to enjoy.
Many touch and feel books were out for the kids to experience. Books include, Usborne books in the That’s Not My Series and a variety of Touch and Feel Baby Animal books. These were a great tool for the teachers to teach about our sense of touch. To teach about our sense of hearing the teachers read, “Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear?” by Eric Carle, “Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?” by Dr. Suess and “Listen Israel is All Around”.
We have two big birthdays this month! This week, Zoe turned one year old. We love all the joy she bring every day. Happy birthday, Zoe!
Next week our focus shifts to emotions. Our plan is to utilize the book, My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss to help teach about colors in relation to emotions. We also plan to celebrate another big birthday.
Have a great weekend.
