This week was a short week. We hope all of our families who were observing Yom Kippur had an easy fast and a wonderful time with family or friends. Wednesday was certainly a beautiful day for everyone.
We started out our week by reading animal themed books. Noisy Farm and Noisy Baby Animals are two of the babes favorites. They love the vivid pictures, the different textures, and the animal sounds coming from the books.
Thank you to everyone who sent in their pet pictures. The Velcro board is bright and colorful and is attractive to all our babies. It provides conversation about animals and more specifically their special animals. We have pictures of dogs, cats, and even fish. The pets of our infant room staff are also represented including our bunnies, cats, lizard, and dogs.
A variety of pint sized animals were played with all week. Babies drove them around in cars and buses, played hide and seek games, and experienced a make believe zoo. The animals are the perfect size to carry around in their hands and even their mouths!!
New sensory bottles were added to the classroom creating a sense of wonder, one including dinosaurs and one of farm animals. The animals in the bottles are suspended in gel creating opportunities to get a closer look.
Water play on Thursday was a hit. The babies loved splashing in the water and giving the animals a bath. After drying off, we had fun with puppets and a lively time singing songs about animals.
Lastly, new lift the flap realistic animal pictures were attached to the cubbies providing yet another opportunity for conversation and learning. Everywhere you turn there are animals to be found! We are “crazy for animals”!
Happy Friday! We hope you all enjoy the weekend.
Warmly, Miss Heidi, Miss Sarah, Miss Rosie, and Miss Hannah
