Happy Purim, Happy Friday, and Happy last school day of February/color month!
The Jewish holiday of Purim is a jolly holiday and jolly we were this week. Water play with a drop or two of color fit the category of jolly. The babes loved splashing, scooping, and pouring water.
Circle time this week included not only color songs and our favorite songs, but a couple of new Purim songs. Everyone got to use their own shakers/groggers. The babies made them using colorful dot dot markers. Mostly the babies were interested in touching the tips, but some got the motion and even repeated the words, “dot dot dot dot dot.” A couple of books brought into our classroom for Purim mentioned the sound of the grogger, “clickety-clack” and the silver crown of Queen Esther. Holiday concepts like the grogger, the crown, and hamentashen for Purim are read in books and sung about to simply expose the littles to these ideas.
Next month, our theme is Me, Myself, and I where our focus will be on feelings, family, body, and the abilities of the babies. Thank you to the families who have sent in their family pictures. Please send one in if you haven’t already. We will be using them at circle time.
We all hope you continue to stay safe and healthy.
Warmly, Miss Heidi, Miss, Sarah, and Miss Lauren
