Sagol Room סגל (Preschool)

Hello Sagol families!

Wow! June is flying by in the Sagol Room. This week we continued our construction theme. The children enjoyed dressing up as construction workers and building with their tools all week. There were plenty of constriction themed books as well, but our favorites were Little Excavator by Anna Dewdney and The Three Little Pigs retold by Kath Jewitt.

During our daily group time, we first do our name song and check in on the calendar and weather. If there’s more time, we usually read a book or have a discussion about what the theme is that week.

On Monday, I covered the tables with paper and the children painted with construction trucks. They enjoyed seeing all the different types of track marks each one made.

On Tuesday, we went for a walk around the pond and saw many turtles and geese on the way. Then, we came back to do playdough with construction trucks and tools!

On Wednesday, we went upstairs to the sanctuary to sing with the other classes at music with Cantor Havillio. Later, it was finally warm enough to do water play again, so we played in the sprinkler and water tables.

On Thursday, we got foam building blocks and used them as stampers in paint. The goal was to make a tower or a building with the paint, but most of them decided to use the blocks to spread paint around like a brush. There are no rules when it comes to art, I suppose!

On Friday, we had our Shabbat celebration upstairs with the other classes. We love our Shabbat time! It was also rainbow day and it was really fun seeing everyone’s colorful outfits. We read a wonderful book called This Day in June by Gayle E. Pitman, walking us through a LGBTQ pride parade. Another book we read was Neither by Airlie Anderson which helped us learn about inclusion and respecting others.

July 6th will be my last day here at Bet Shalom, so next week is my last full week we have together. I have really enjoyed getting to know you all and your wonderful children! Thank you to the parents who have always been so kind and supportive towards me!

Miss Maddie will be starting her summer theme next week.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Shabbat Shalom,

Mr. Benny & Ms. Maddie
