Shalom! What a strange week it was for Minnesota and our school. We were stunned and (the kids were) excited by a huge snowstorm that slightly derailed our fall weather theme!
While I had planned to talk about the changing leaf colors and harvesting pumpkins, we took a detour to winter and talked about the four seasons and different types of weather.
Monday started out with hopes of autumnal themes and we all painted paper plates with orange to make mini pumpkins! We also introduced our lesson this week about focusing attention.
Tuesday we played a game called “Is it still snowing?” and watched out the window all day as the snow continued to fall and cover our playground! Later some friends put shapes on their paper plate pumpkins to make a face, stem, and vine on their pumpkin.
Wednesday we had music in our gear before going outside to play in the snow!
There was a short activity of button stringing while reading our Second Step story about focusing and following directions.
During circle time we practiced the Listening Rules and read My Many Colored Days.
Thursday the weather was still wild! We learned songs about the seasons and weather and discussed what we saw outside. Everyone heard some loud thunder and saw some snow/rain/ice falling from the clouds! Our weather panda was dressed in a coat, boots, mittens, and hat just like the kids had to wear outside!
After lunch we had time to do some free-painting and movement with Cosmic Kids Yoga.
We will have Shabbat on Friday!
Next week we will try again to do a fall theme of pumpkins and end the week with a fun costume day!
Have a nice weekend,
Ms. Maddie and Mr. Benny
