This week we had a farm and harvest theme in the room to start off fall and get ready for Sukkot which starts on Friday!
We had a small world barn with animals, a day with corn bins, and artificial flowers for sorting and arranging.
Again this week we continued to learn about school and being welcoming to new friends. Our puppet friend “Sagol” traveled the room during choice play to talk to the kids and engage in some back and forth conversation about things they like to do in school. This lesson has been at the perfect time because we welcomed our pal Cal back to the preschool room this week! It felt great to see so many students asking others to play and finding ways to include each other in group games.
Another part of this social learning is playing a follow the leader game where the teacher shows a movement and everyone has to pay close attention and do exactly what I do! Happy to say we are also getting better at this as a whole class.
The favorite special activities this week were dancing with scarves, jamming to Laurie Berkner’s “I Know a Chicken” using egg shakers, and playing with the colorful flowers!
Sukkot starts this weekend and continues through to next Friday. We will spend the week learning and celebrating this fun fall holiday. We will even get to have lunch one day outside in the Bet Shalom sukkah!
Have a great weekend!
