This week we started our kitchen dramatic play area.
We still have beans in the sensory table and have added construction equipment. Our letter this week was Zz the end of the alphabet. We are going to do some review in the next couple of weeks and then we will start to work on counting and writing numbers.
On Monday and Tuesday we made art using shaving cream and liquid watercolor. It was a great sensory experience. On Thursday we used half of those art pieces to make Z is for Zebra. On Friday the art was z is for zipper.
Our lesson this week was using kind words. We worked on how to respond to someone that you don’t want to play with right now (“Can I play with you?”, “I am playing with ________ right now. Let’s play later.”) We also talked about the difference between kind words and unkind words.
In science this week we talked about the sense of smell. We had 5 containers each with a different smell. Then the students guessed what each smell was. On Thursday we talked about the guesses and told the answers. The children love science and we will be starting a new unit soon.
Everyone enjoyed our time outside this week. Hopefully there won’t be much rain next week so we can go out again. Next week we will continue to have the beans in the sensory table and the kitchen in dramatic play. We will be working on letter review and doing some handwriting practice.
Have a great weekend!
