Sagol Room סגל (Preschool)

It was another busy week in Preschool.

Thursday we had a parade for Israel’s Independence Day.  The children had flags or instruments to carry.  I think that the adults in the building enjoyed it as much as the children.  Friday was Special Person Day with Shabbat.

The children are still enjoying looking for the insects in the fake grass in the sensory table.  This week the kitchen was replaced by a fishing boat with fishing poles and fish that can be caught (using magnets).  They are practicing taking turns every day.  We also replaced the doll house (thank you Logan and Vivi for the use of the house) with a farm. The children like playing with the farm animals.  They have also made corrals with the building blocks.

Lots of art this week.  On Monday, the students had art with Ms. Beth.  This week they colored people and pasted shapes on paper to make houses.

We ran out of time last week to do our number 2 project, so we did that.  Now number 3 will have to be next week, and hopefully we can catch up with number 4.

We also made something special for our special people on Friday.  We tried another project, but it didn’t turn out quite the way the example on the internet did.  We may try again another time with some adjustments.

We finished up our study of Minnesota by talking about some places that are fun to visit in Minnesota, and we listened to stories about Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox.  The students really seemed interested in learning about the wonderful state we live in.

We also learned a bit about Israel this week.  I showed them where Israel is on the world map.  Then one of the students asked about how you know if you are Jewish.  We read a great book about what a Jewish person is, and I told them to ask their parents about it as well.

Next week I’ll leave the Minnesota items out and answer any other questions the children have.  We will also study the number 4.  The children can bring in sets of four things to share on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Have a great weekend and a happy Mother’s Day.
