What a great week of preschool! Welcome to Quinn and Brookie who joined our class this week! We have missed our friends that moved to PreK but enjoy seeing them during large motor time.
This week focused on flexibility and self help skills – with the start of waterplay it worked very well to talk about doing things for yourself. First they need to try and if they still need help a teacher will assist them. We also worked on this at lunch being able to open their containers all on their own or at least trying and then asking for help. We did make progress on this during the week!
Our theme of the week was birds!
On Monday we read books about birds and did some bird watching with the bird feeder. The best part is with low numbers we had a special lunch outside on the playground.
We also had art with Ms. Beth where we made our very own June calendar. There is bug that they can move to each day. What a great learning opportunity. You can add any special days to it too.
Tuesday we reintroduced our theme of birds. We talked about different birds and colored pictures of birds. It was our first day of water play. We had so much fun with the water tables and sprinkler this week.
On Wednesday we made our very own binoculars. We then took a nature walk to look for birds. Miss Sarah brought in her real binoculars too to share.
Thursday was all about being birds. Miss Amanda shared some great bird costumes for us to explore and play with.
We also looked at real bird nests that Emmett and Mr. Benny found that were abandoned by birds.
Friday we will have Shabbat with Quinn as our helper. We will also build a bird nest by looking at the real bird nests.
We can’t wait for next week with Miss Maddie.
