This week we wrapped up our month of the five senses with smell and taste! We mostly focused on smell, and observed the ways our other senses are working all day.
On Monday we had a special art time with Miss Beth again! We painted and stuffed paper bags to make clouds, and glued on ribbon and sparkles after. The cutie clouds are hanging like a winter weather wonderland in the hallway when you walk down the stairs to the preschool!
Monday was also Jack’s third birthday! His mom came in and read a very funny story called The Serious Goose, and everyone got a yummy cookie treat.
This week the new dramatic play area had a kitchen set, play cake and cupcakes, and real empty grocery items! We are practicing sharing, setting up a table, and cleaning/organizing.
It’s also fun to pretend what the foods would taste and smell like! Some descriptive words we learned are hot, cold, sweet, salty, and bitter.
Wednesday we had music with Shana! Everyone was excited this week to guess which songs we would sing and dance to. With Tu B’Shvat coming up, movement songs about trees are the current favorite!
Thursday the sensory table was switched out with some water scented with hand soap.
During circle time we tried guessing a few powdered smells (cinnamon, cocoa, coffee, and vanilla) while reading My Five Senses.
Friday we will do a taste test with foods that engage all of our senses, and celebrate Shabbat with Bodhi as our helper!
Next week will be all about trees and Tu B’Shvat!
Enjoy some photos from last Friday as well below.
