Welcome back Sagol families! I hope you all had a restful winter break and a joyful start to the new year.
This week we started learning about our 5 senses, beginning with our sense of sight. All week we discussed how we use our eyes to see the world around us, and played “I spy” searching for colors and shapes in our classroom. Our focus was on recognizing the primary colors, and how to correctly count to 5 (and higher!) together.
In our sensory table this week was fun multi-colored rice with hidden letters, shapes, and numbers
The room also got a little rearrangement to accommodate our “Sagol General Store” with baskets of gifts, play food, and cash register!
The science area had mirrors, kaleidoscopes, glitter bottle, and rainbow stacking cups to explore different ways our eyes see light and color.
During group time we sang “Tov, Tov, Tov” and read the books Baby Bear, Baby Bear What Do You See? And Look!.
On Tuesday some friends worked on painting rainbows with dot dots. During lunch we worked on the first week of Second Step- How to be welcoming!
Wednesday was our first music class with Miss Shana. Our class learned some new songs and had fun singing and dancing together!
Thursday before dismissing to pickup and afternoon enrichment, everyone settled for a 4 minute belly breathing meditation. More friends are getting very good at quieting and calming their bodies even just for a short time!
Most of the week we also got to play outside making snow people and shoveling chunks of ice.
Friday we have our monthly special person’s Shabbat and Alex will be the Shabbat helper.
Next week we will talk about our sense of hearing with music, movement, and loose parts.
Shabbat Shalom –
Miss Maddie and Miss Kaitlyn
