What a week we have had in the Preschool classroom! We had five new friends join our class this week, so much of the schedule was filled with reviewing rules, routines, and getting to know each other.
Monday was the first day for Alex, Leo, and Eliana (Leora started Friday) from the Adom class, and Bodhi who is brand new to BSY! The new kiddos took time to explore the exciting toys and games available, and our veteran preschoolers were great at helping and showing them around. We also got to welcome Miss Kaitlyn as a second Sagol teacher!
All week we were super lucky with great sunny weather which allowed us to get outside in the snow every day!
We also had another week of the dried noodle sensory table and community job dress up.
Our theme focus this week was the December value of respect, as well as our November value, kindness. It can be challenging to learn to share with new people so there was a lot of practicing patience and taking turns.
On Tuesday we sat down to start our Thanksgiving project from last week’s snowed-out day. There is never a bad time to talk about who and what we are thankful for! Almost everyone participated by coloring pictures and explaining their own ideas.
Wednesday was a big group music class where we started singing some fun songs for Hanukkah which is coming up at the end of December!
During lunch we continued our Second Step lessons on caring and helping and acted out different scenarios where a friend might feel sad/scared and brainstormed what we can do to help and show we care.
Thursday during circle time we sang “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” with egg shakers and read Llama Llama Misses Mama and Have You Filled a Bucket Today? Everyone worked outside on the playground to shovel snow off of the climber and collect samples of ice chunks to melt!
On Friday, Brooklynn will be our helper for Shabbat!
Next week we will learn about winter animals and emotion management.
