This week we learned about what a community is and the people and places we might see in our local community.
We read the books People Who Help and Being a Good Citizen which explained the important jobs and people that keep our community safe and running smoothly.
The favorite things to do this week were dramatic play, dress-up, and building. We had some very busy firefighters, police officers, doctors/dentists, and construction workers!
We also discussed our Second Step material which focused on accidents and how to explain and apologize if you do something you didn’t mean to do. Relating back to the first weeks in this unit, we read the book Everyone… which is a simple story about how everyone shares the same feelings no matter who you are, and it’s ok to feel happy, sad, angry, etc.
For our letter this week we looked at the letter N for Nut and read the book A Friend Like You in which a squirrel and a bird become unlikely pals.
The class also took turns exploring a sensory bin of acorns and letter toys.
Some exciting visitors came to play this week from the toddler room! Alex, Eliana, Leora, and Leo will all be joining our class in December and everyone had fun playing with them during their quick “field trip” to Sagol. We cannot wait to welcome them as official preschoolers in less than two weeks!
Once again thank you all for coming to meet with me for conferences these past two weeks! It is exciting to see how each of the students have grown at school and hear about what they are like at home as well.
On Friday, Cal will be the helper for Shabbat!
Next week will be a shorter week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. We will talk about the things we are thankful for, and how we can help others by doing mitzvot (good deeds).
I hope you have a lovely weekend!
