Happy Friday Katom families!
This week we said goodbye to the dinosaurs and welcomed our new theme- shapes! The babes have been exploring our square, circle, and triangle shaped toys as well as diamonds, hearts, stars, and more! We’ve also been singing new songs and reading new books.
We are continuing to prepare our older babies for their transition to the toddler room. This week, the babes have been working on their utensil skills. During snack and lunch, they take turns at the table and eat their yogurt, applesauce, and other treats with bowls and spoons. We are so impressed with the development of their fine motor abilities and the way they are able to adjust to these changes. Their adaptability shows us that they are more than ready for this next big change.
The babes have been showing lots of interest in our rocking chair so we brought in a chair just for them. It’s great for them to practice sitting on their own, and also helps them learn to take turns. We practice telling them whose turn it is and whose turn will be next to get them use to being patient. It’s not always easy for the babies, but it’s an important skill to work on.
As our younger babies become more and more mobile, they are able to get around the room and interact with the toys and their peers. We love to see them forming relationships and exploring their environment!
This week was bittersweet as we said our goodbyes to Kaia. We’ve loved seeing her grow, come out of her shell, and become an expert block stacker. We will miss her greatly but are so excited for her new adventures in Toddlers!
We hope you all have a fabulous weekend in the sunshine!
