Kahol Room כחול (Young Toddlers)

Shalom Kahol families!

It was great to be all together again! We had an amazing week exploring the last frontier in this month’s space unit.

Expect a lot of cute little handprints (maybe even footprints?!) this month! We started out this week with some handprint aliens to board our spaceships. We of course added googly eyes! The Kahol littles are always super excited when Miss Tira takes out the paint because it always means some interesting sensory and/or the fun of making a mess.

With our alien friends along for the ride we set out to colorful planets! The kids were given paint covered golf balls and paper plates inside a tray. The goal was to shake the tray around to make beautiful rainbow planets. It was a joy to watch their reactions to their work.

Our next project was one part abstract art and one part handprint. We took our beloved pom poms and attached them to clothes pins and gave each child a different color of paint. As previously stated the Kahol kids love paint! Each child had a different way of holding the clothes pin and direction with their art which gave very unique results. Later we took some gray paint to form the base of a rocket ship! Look out for the final product in the hallway very soon!

The last project of the week involved fine motor skills. We did another Kahol favorite and made our own constellations or Milky Ways! Give these kids stickers and they will ask for them all day!

We did a lot of reading as a group, one on one, or “independently”. The littles love books so much they stopped playing in the big room and all gathered together to enjoy their favorite board books. Books we are highlighting this month are Tiny Little Rocket by Richard Collingridge and 8 Little Planets by Chris Ferrie.

I wish you the best and hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Miss Tira
