Adom Room אדום (Toddlers)

Shabbat Shalom Adom Friends!

We know things have been a little crazy with the different illnesses going around, but thank you parents for supporting and working with us to keep the kids and staff safe and healthy! This week we talked a lot about the zoo! The kids got to explore the different animals that are typically in zoos, fed a monkey, and lots of other fun things!

On Monday, we read the book Curious George at the Zoo. After reading, they practiced their counting by feeding bananas to a monkey and counted one by one. The kids really enjoyed getting to feed him.

Tuesday, we read Let’s Go to the Zoo! The kids loved seeing all of the different animals in this book, and continued to shout out the animals that they were seeing. They also knew what noises the animals make! After reading the book, the kids got to play in their own “zoo” with their sensory bins. They had different animals, food to feed them, little towels to bathe them, etc. They seemed to love playing in their bins.

On Wednesday, we started out with music! As we all know, music is a favorite. They continue to enjoy it every week, which we love to see the smiles it brings to their faces. After music we read Goodnight, Gorilla. It was the kids’ job to save all of the animals and set them free (from ziplock bags to practice some fine motor skills). They did a great job and clearly cared about the animals!

Thursday, we read At the Zoo, and made our own giraffes! We used a tracing of Ms. Alyssa’s hand and forearm, black pom poms, and googly eyes! They turned out so cute and fun! The kids always love to get messy doing art projects.

On Friday we will bring in Shabbat and ease into the weekend. We plan to read A Sick Day for Amos McGee. After we read, the kids are going to make their very own lion manes to wear around to pretend they’re lions! Don’t be surprised if they come home and run around roaring all over the place 🙂

This is tough to share with our Adom families. To keep you up to date with what is going on in our classroom, I (Ms. Alyssa) will be leaving BSY. Another opportunity came about that I couldn’t let go by, and my last day will be November 1, 2021. It has been so much fun getting to know your children over the last year and being a part of their development. Thank you for trusting in me to care for each and every one of them. I’ll miss them dearly, and I’ll miss getting to connect with all of you at pick up each day.

We hope everyone has a nice, relaxing Shabbat.

Next week, Ms. Hannah plans to focus on polar/arctic environments!

Shabbat Shalom,

Ms. Alyssa & Ms. Hannah
