Old Macdonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O; and on that farm he had a…. class full of toddlers! This shortened week we focused on FARMS!
On Tuesday we introduced our theme by exploring corn kernel sensory bins with farmers and farm animals. We read a book to review what kinds of animals live on farms, and their sounds. This is the first time we’ve used corn for sensory bins in awhile, and the todds loved to dig, scoop, pour, and listen to the noise it made.
Wednesday we read Tractor Trouble, a story about a cow and his friends driving a runaway tractor. We then made muddy animal and tractor tracks all around a green “pasture” that will turn into a big class farmyard. On Friday we will dot-dot farm animals to add to it. Keep an eye out for the final product in the hall next week!
The gaga pit is a crowd favorite; they love to just walk around and feel the long grass and different types of plants growing there. Thursday we took a walk to the gaga pit and read Barnyard Dance before strewing farm animals around the grass. The todds searched for and collected the animals, and we all enjoyed some extra time out in the sun and fresh air.
With a cooler start to the week we weren’t able to get much water play in, but we still enjoyed our large motor time on the playground and in the big room.
Friday we will have Shabbat and our delicious juice and challah. Next week Ms. Alyssa will be focusing on the theme of camping!
Shabbat Shalom and have a wonderful weekend!
