We are so excited summer is finally here! We started the summer off by welcoming a new friend to our class, Claire. She was with us in our baby room, and we are so excited to have her back! Welcome back Claire! We are also very happy to see all of you coming down to drop off and pick the kids. It has been really fun getting to meet and talk to each of you about your child’s day.
The beginning of summer means playing in the water! The kids immediately loved playing in the sprinklers we brought in the playground area. We’ve had the perfect hot weather for it this week, and they couldn’t have had a better time!
This summer we have begun by focusing on Eric Carle books. The kids truly love each Eric Carle book that we read to them, so we have been eager to start these lessons! On Tuesday they started the morning with pom poms. Later that morning we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The kids couldn’t believe everything that the caterpillar ate! After learning about things that make our tummies feel good, the kids made their own caterpillar to take home with them.
On Wednesday the kids started their day with Playdoh. We also got to enjoy music in the sanctuary. Later, we read Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?. This is always a favorite among the kids. They love to shout out the different colors of each animal and see what comes next. After we read the book we used our watercolor paints to bring our bears to life! They had so much fun painting their own bear, and they turned out great! You can see them hanging on the wall next to our door!
Thursday, they started their day with free play. They read books, played in the kitchen, and took care of the baby dolls. We also read Today Is Monday. We read the book while they played in their sensory bins with water and spaghetti. They got to feel the squishy noodles between their fingers and got to practice cutting the noodles.
On Friday we will also be celebrating Shabbat in the sanctuary. In the morning we will be reading Do You Want To Be My Friend? and talking about how to be a kind and gentle friend.
Next week Ms. Hannah will be planning her lessons around Eric Carle as well!
We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, Shabbat Shalom!
