A told B, and B told C, “I’ll meet you at the top of the coconut tree!” This week we focused on learning the alphabet through Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. We sang the ABCs and the class favorite Chicka Chicka Boom Boom song every day. All week we have loved playing with alphabet puzzles and our very own Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree magnet board. Every time we read the book, at least one of the todds would point out our tree that is same-same!
We started the week by working on identifying letters; stamping and smushing letter-shaped cookie cutters into playdoh.
We also did a couple of art projects this week! First we tried using watercolor paint to reveal hidden letters, with each todd making the first letter of their name appear. Some of the letters didn’t show up so well, but we still love using watercolors, as it’s minimal-mess and the kids always love showing off their beautiful paintings!
They also enjoyed peeling and sticking letter stickers under Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees. Peeling a sticker kind be kind of tricky; it is great fine motor practice! They were each so proud of their finished trees. Some friends focused on just feeling the stickiness of the stickers, which is fun too!
On Wednesday we had zoom music, and then played in individual rice sensory bins. Each bin had the first letter of their name and other objects starting with the same letter. We named each object and talked about how it starts with the same letter and same sound as their name.
The beautiful weather this week meant lots of outside time, and the melting snow made it a lot easier to run around!
And, with the big kids going outside too, we got extra big room time— any extra time to use our big muscles and wiggle the waggles away is always welcome!
Friday we will have zoom Shabbat, and then play an alphabet matching game. Next week Katie will be helping us work on using our super manners!
Enjoy the warm sunny weekend!
