Shabbat Shalom and Happy Chanukah!
This week in Adom was all about Chanukah! We read books like My First Chanukah and Chanukah Lights to learn why we celebrate Chanukah. We started the week by coloring popsicle sticks “candles” to make a menorah on our whiteboard that we can “light” every day of Chanukah. We worked on counting 1 through 9 so we can count the 9 candles on our menorah.
We then attempted to make tape-resist Star of David Chanukah cards— but some of the tape was a little less willing to come off and the shape got a bit lost. Oh well! The todds always love a chance to dot-dot!
On Wednesday, we read a book about dreidels and then colored in foldable dreidels. They don’t spin very well, but the todds were excited to learn about the game!
We also learned about the importance of oil for Chanukah, and experimented with what happened when we mix oil and water together. It’s so fun to see all the little scientists working hard!
We were so excited to welcome our new friend Marni to Adom on Wednesday! She is already loved by our class, and they like all to make sure their new littlest friend is doing okay.
All week, we’ve enjoyed playing in our new grocery store dramatic play area. Thank you for bringing in some containers from your child’s favorite foods to add to our store! They have loved recognizing and picking out the foods they like to eat.
With the warm and sunny weather, we really enjoyed our playground time this week! And, of course, the big room is always a favorite!
We loved seeing all the Chanukah blue and white on Thursday!
On Friday we will learn about all the ingredients that go into latkes. Next week, Ms. Katie will continue our Chanukah theme!
Have a great weekend!
Ms. Katie, Ms. Alyssa, and Ms. Hannah
