Learning to Leyn: Part I: An Introduction to Torah Trope
April 14, 2019 | 10:45 am
An event every week that begins at 10:45 am on Sunday, repeating until May 5, 2019

Do you have an interest in Jewish musical traditions and practices? Would you like to deepen your connection to Torah? Have you ever wanted to develop the ability to chant directly from a Torah scroll? If the answer to any of these questions is “Yes,” please consider joining Cantor Schwartz and fellow congregants this spring for “Learning to Leyn, Part I.”
You will be introduced to the wonderful world of Torah trope, Judaism’s unique system of musical notation! In a supportive environment guided by Cantor Schwartz, participants will learn and practice the most frequently used trope signs, master the ability to chant the first paragraph of the Torah, and be intrigued by the history and development of trope.
An ability to decode Hebrew is required.
Take the next step in expanding your Jewish and musical horizons while deepening your connection to Torah, Jewish music and one another. You belong here!
Class meets in the Jerusalem room.
