Kindergarten: Jackie’s Update

It’s been a busy couple of weeks. We’ve been focusing on acceptance and self-esteem. The kids got to know each other better through creating likes/dislikes posters along with thinking about what makes them each unique.  Those that were in attendance for that project should have brought their posters home by now. I’ll attach some pictures of them sharing those with the class. It was a fun change of pace for the kids. We also started an acrostic art project where the kids are coming up with qualities and attributes that start with the letters in their first name. It was neat to see how these all turned out so differently. They were given a variety of “recycled” items (anything from straws, to toothpicks, to pipe cleaners) for the letters in their name. They will be bringing these home next week! They are proud of their hard work on these and I am too.

Please note we have 5-minute conferences from 9:00-10:00 this Sunday (Jan. 26th) for those that are interested in briefly chatting about your child’s progress in class. Further information has been communicated in the Bet Shalom religious school weekly emails. You will be dropping your child off in the sanctuary instead of the classroom. Dismissal is the same as usual at 11:30 in the social hall.

I will be gone on Sunday, Feb. 2nd. Miss Sarah is subbing again and she is wonderful! The kids will be in good hands.

Mazel Tov to Madison for earning the Mensch Award this week. Mazel Tov to Raya for earning it the week before. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great rest of the week.
