4th Grade: Julie’s Update

Hello 4th grade families,

We are off to a wonderful start of the year! Sundays and Wednesday have been filled with wonderful discussions, enlightenment, and such energy.  Sundays we will be focusing our studies on the Tanach. We just finished learning about receiving the 10 commandments and 3 additional laws.  One activity we did, to make this Torah portion relevant to themselves, is that they put the 10 commandments in a new order that they felt best represented the importance of the laws today.

On Wednesdays, we are focusing on Jewish Values & Holidays.   Students had a fantastic time having a Rosh Hashanah seder, a sephardic tradition, that I hope they continue on their own. On Wednesday September 25, students looked inwards as they focused on the value of Teshuva while preparing for Yom Kippur.  Additionally, we are sprinkling in Jewish phrases for Rosh Hashanah as well as every day phrases, like Todah (thank you).

Thank you,

Julie Friedman
