The Oldest Book Club in History: Torah Study

Please join Rabbis Cohen and Rabbi Locketz for one of three opportunities each week to study Torah in our Jerusalem Room (Conference Room A).  The portion for the current week is discussed. Sunday sessions will only meet on weeks when Religious School is in session.

  • Sunday mornings from 10:00 - 10:45 (During Religious School Year)
  • Sunday afternoons from 12:15 - 1:00 (During Religious School Year)
  • Thursdays from noon to 1:00 pm. (Bring your lunch!)
Beyond Torah Study

Thursdays at 11:00, right before Torah Study.

Have you ever wondered what is contained in the rest of the Tanach … our Hebrew Bible? Rarely do we have the opportunity to study contents beyond the Five Books of Moses. But now we do. Our new Beyond Torah Study class will focus on what comes after Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Join Rabbi Cohen and Rabbi Locketz as we study line by line, the rest of the story. This class will meet in the Jerusalem Room (Conference Room A).

Reform Responsa: Developing Jewish Answers to Modern Questions

Did you know that Jewish tradition has something to say about almost everything, including plastic surgery, smoking, tattoos, computers, involving non-Jews in Jewish ceremonies.  Biblical and Talmudic texts can be understood as speaking to these seemingly modern notions. Our new adult education class will take us on a journey through the literature known as Reform Responsa. We will explore a variety of issues and trace their answers through Jewish history in a way that will help us to apply Jewish principles and ideals to almost any question that we face today.

Please reserve 7:00-8:30pm on the 2nd Thursday of each month, beginning on September 11th, and join us at Bet Shalom for this fascinating learning process.

Basics of Judaism
