Bet Shalom Congregation is honored to
host the Community-wide S'lichot on September
20. We welcome you to join us as we
prepare for the Yamim Noraim. The schedule for our S'lichot program
follows:
8:30 pm - Havdallah
9:00 pm - The Wicked Son
10:30 pm - Reception
11:00 pm - S'lichot Service
Our S’lichot program will include a study
and discussion of The Wicked Son by
David Mamet. The Wicked Son,
co-published by Schocken and Nextbook, is
part of the Jewish Encounters Series, a
publishing effort that brings together
writers of the first rank with people, ideas
and events from the Jewish past.
The Wicked Son will be the basis
of a great learning opportunity and lively
discussion about contemporary Jewish
identity. Our study and discussion will be
led by Lori B. Sagarin, RJE, who is the
Director of Congregational Learning at
Temple Beth Israel in Skokie, IL, the
president of the National Association of
Temple Educators and a consultant for
Nextbook, the foundation for Jewish Culture.
Reading the book is not a prerequisite to
your participation, however, it will enhance
it. A copy of the book is available for
purchase through your synagogue office.
